Ostwald ripening of a cubic TBSV crystal in a precipitate in vitro (courtesy of B. Lorber). The crystal grew in a 20 µl drop; after 35 d its volume reached the mm3 range. The clear halo around the crystal indicates that it grew at the expense of insoluble material. The images are at the same magnification.
